Terms of service

Last updated 23 October 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Siglar Development AS, Norway ("we"), which runs Far Coasts (farcoasts.com). By creating an account or playing, you accept them. Questions: hey@farcoasts.com.

Your account

You sign in with a Google account and are responsible for what happens on your account. One account per person. You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough to agree to these terms where you live (or have a parent's or guardian's permission).

Playing fair

Everyone shares one world, so you agree not to:

  • cheat, use bots or exploit bugs to gain an advantage, or interfere with the game, its servers or other players' connections;
  • harass, threaten or impersonate others, or use offensive names;
  • sell, trade or share accounts.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules. Where it's serious or repeated, we may do so without notice.

Free play and membership

Far Coasts is free to play. A membership (described on the membership page) is a subscription paid monthly in advance through Stripe, at the price shown when you subscribe, and it renews each month until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your account (Manage membership): it then runs until the end of the period you have paid for and does not renew. We do not refund parts of a period, except where the law gives you a right to one.

Right of withdrawal (EU/EEA): a membership gives you access to digital content straight away. When you subscribe you ask us to start at once, and you accept that you then lose the 14-day right of withdrawal for that first period. You can still cancel so that the membership does not renew.

If we change the price, we will tell members at least 30 days before it applies, and they may cancel before then.

The game changes

Far Coasts is a living game: the world, ships, features and rules change over time. Ships and progress in the game are part of the service, not property that can be redeemed or transferred. We aim to keep the game running but cannot promise it will always be available, and we may end it with reasonable notice (members would get a refund for any period paid but not received).

What you share

Your sailor's name and anything else you put into the game must be yours to use and must not break the law or these terms. You let us show it to other players as part of the game.

Liability

The game is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, or for losses beyond what you have paid us in the last 12 months. Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer under the law where you live.

Law and disputes

Norwegian law applies. If something goes wrong, write to us first; we will try to put it right. Consumers may also bring a complaint to the Norwegian Consumer Authority (Forbrukertilsynet) or use the EU's online dispute resolution platform.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in ways that matter, we will say so on the site at least 30 days before; if you keep playing after that, the new terms apply.
